Frequently asked questions

What checks are accepted?

Personal and business checks are accepted. The check must be made out to the PayPal user's name and the user must sign the back of the check. All information must be filled out and visible. We do not accept: money orders, cashier's checks, travelers checks, or checks made out to "cash."

What should I do with a check once captured?

We recommend keeping the check for 15 days after capture to make sure there are no issues. Once the money successfully shows up in your PayPal account, it is safe to destroy the check.

Why does it take 5-6 days?

PayPal waits 5 days for the funds to be captured from the issuing bank to determine if they are good before transferring them to the user’s PayPal account. In rare instances, it can take longer.

Is there a cap on how much I can add through checks?

PayPal users can capture up to $1,000 per day or $3,000 per month.

How do I take a good picture?

Make sure you have sufficient lighting and your check is entirely visible with no other objects within the frame. Please only capture one check at a time.

How soon can I start submitting checks once I have enrolled?

There is no waiting period. You can start submitting checks right away.

Will I be charged for this service?

There are no costs or fees for downloading the app or for adding money to your PayPal account.

What should I do if my check is returned?

Please follow up with the check writer to obtain a new check or an alternate form of payment.
